How to remove odours from carpet?

Whether you have wall-to-wall carpets or just area rugs, the need cleaning or at a minimum deodorising to remove smells.
You may have everything from spills to a fireplace or the beloved pet that of which have a distinct smell which is particularly unpleasant.
If you do not want to call up your local carpet cleaner the solution is more than likely in your pantry!

BAKING SODA/BI CARB SODA

Why Use Bi carb on your carpets?
Baking soda/bi carb soda is a proven odour absorber, plus it’s cheap and natural.
The soda particles go deep down into the carpet, past the point you can’t even see, all the way to the base to absorb and neutralize smells.
The particles can then be lifted out with a vacuum, leaving you with a carpet that no longer smells.
Baking soda/bi carb doesn’t actually have any smell,
Another advantage of baking soda for deodorizing, is that it is a dry deodorizer, versus some of the sprays that do the same job. They might smell better, but they can may only mast the smell or leave a stain and you have another issue to deal with.

Instructions

Move your furniture: Clear any furniture off the carpet to access the whole surface area. …
Add the baking soda: Sprinkle baking soda liberally all over the carpet —either right from the box or using a fine-mesh sieve. …
Let it sit: Wait a few hours or ideally overnight for the baking soda to absorb the odours.
