In 2015 I started on a new journey. One foot in front of the other was all I could manage in the beginning, with some moments of being stuck. Today I woke up and realised I have landed here, right where I was always meant to be.

A good life lesson is to find the space where you belong, not where others want you to be and believe me, life is how you live it and living someone else’s version of life is a sad place indeed. The day you acknowledge that no-one is responsible for your happiness but you is when you start to heal.

People love to form opinions about what they think they know about you, but the truth is they only know what someone else has told them and refuse to ask the ugly question. Why? I am not that ugly duck, I’m a beautiful swan that found her way back to her flow.

There is no benefit in trying to defend yourself, but by being the best version of yourself is the only way to live.

A dear friend always tells me the best revenge is to live a happy life.

I have walked away from my home, my personal effects and a life I thought was the best version of me, only to fast-forward to 2020 to realise that Maya Angelou is right: “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”

Every day for the past 6 years I have had many moments of being breathless.

I have decided to take the plunge and write a regular blog about the experiences that I have lived in the hope that it can help someone else going through a similar experience.

This is not a blog to vent my spleen. I have good friends, yummy cheese and a decent New Zealand Sav Blanc for that :).

How to feed a family on $10 per day. How to turn a house into a home thanks to the Salvos stores. Paint is your friend and if it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck, I bet I could turn it into a swan. And Becky, dear Becky, you rock! You will make a designer out of me yet!

How laughter is definitely the best medicine. How kombucha is not a village in India but a healthy drink you can make yourself and Michael Buble (bubbles to my friends) knows how to make a girl feel loved. And finally, learning to smells the roses or flowers, hopefully in your own garden.

So I welcome you to join me on this journey. It’s not over yet, but I’m finally enjoying the ride!
